Times, they are a changing and as Patrick Lamb says, in chaos and despair, there is often great opportunity. It's time to change the model of the law firm and to focu on value -- on achieving the client's objectives efficienty and effectively. Performance-based pay is the key as well changes to firm capital structures. Clients, however, are the catalysts and must drive that change. We have to start by only using peformance based pay engagement models, and we must stop encouraging the destructive, individual performer focus behavior of letting lawyers think our work is portable. Indeed, we must focus on a b2b relationship as opposed to an attorney client relationship. So long as the firm walks our walk, we should stay with the firm when an individual leaves.
