Do you know of any viable open-source efforts to improve software specifically for lawyers or law firms?

Even if most lawyers don’t write code, they do (sometimes) pay people to do so. Imagine that law firms who hired programmers started to contribute that code toward an open-source project. Then the next time a law firm needed to solve a similar problem, he or she could have their programmer start from that foundation, make improvements, and contribute those changes back. As more law firms started to use a common foundation of software, it would be easier to spot bugs, to build helpful documentation, and for other vendors to write software that was compatible.
