Even if most lawyers don&#039;t write code, they do (sometimes) pay people to do so.  Imagine that law firms who hired programmers started to contribute that code toward an open-source project.  Then the next time a law firm needed to solve a similar problem, he or she could have their programmer start from that foundation, make improvements, and contribute those changes back.
